Lab Testing

Healthlabs.com is the parent company to start up companies Raven.com, STDcheck.com, and UTItreatment.com. Healthlabs.com specializes in lab testing and lets users order lab tests without going to the doctor. While working for Healthlabs, I gained graphic design experience and used my existing UX skills on a number of projects.

Healthlabs.com Redesign

My biggest project for Healthlabs was the website redesign. The existing website was starting to show its age. The company owner wanted to update the look and feel of the site while keeping the navigation and product page flows similar. Starting on the project, I researched our competitors (Everlywell.com & LetsGetChecked.com) for inspiration and to see how they were solving similar problems. Through this competitive analysis we formed some ideas on how to better show products and how to reformat our main navigation menu.

With notes together I used sketch to draft ideas and create initial wireframes. For custom icons and graphics, I learned how to use Illustrator and created icons to fit our product categories. When it came time to prototype, I used Marvel to make a click through presentation. The project went through many iterations after review with our stakeholders but we all finally agreed on the design. Currently the redesign is under construction by the development team.

Category Icons

Another project I worked on for Healthlabs.com was making icons for category pages. The existing website did not have many graphics or photos beyond the home page making the pages feel out of date and bland. The marketing team wanted to spice up some of the denser pages by including icons for different categories. Using Flaticon.com, I found some icons I liked and then used Illustrator to customize them to meet the needs of the given category. After reviewing them with the marketing team, they were approved and are now live on the current site.

Values & Perks Icons

Another project where I got to build graphic design skills was when I was tasked with creating icons for the company intranet. The sales manager wanted me to add graphics to represent the company's values and job perks.
